‘Let Me Entertain You’ – Brilliant final, but no prize!!

Octagon Theatre, Yeovil

Saturday 9th May

The Rivertones, having been successful in reaching the final of the ‘Let Me Entertain You’ competition organised by the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil, took their place on stage on Saturday 9 May – opening the second half of the show.

32 members of the chorus plus chorus director Peter Gover performed a song from the Lion King – ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’.

The capacity sell-out audience of over 600 broke into spontaneous applause and cheering during a final key change and a choreographed flash of lights towards the end of the song  . . . we had once again heard some lovely comments from 3 professional entertainments people – Emma Britton from BBC Somerset, Adam Burgan, manager of the Octagon Theatre and Antonia Burt from the Western Gazette and previously with Sony Records – Emma telling us she liked CYFTLT better than Hallelujah which got us into this final, Adam once again saying how we all sang the song with great feeling and emotion and Antonia saying she nearly broke out into tears when we all started to move forward towards the finale of the song, and in her book we had scored 11 out of 10.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience and congratulations to Twisted Vinyl, this year’s winners.
