Welcome to the news section of the website.

On the 11th October 2008 we celebrated our silver jubilee in style with a very own show at the Tacchi Morris arts centre entitle ‘Barbershop Style’.

The Rivertones’ Silver Jubilee Show opened with a dynamic rendition of Barbershop Style by The Rivertones. The rhythmic Nice Work If You Can Get It and the haunting I’ll Be Seeing You followed this.

The renowned male quartet, Quarterjacks, proved to be in top form and their eight-part performance of Lida Rose and Dream of Now with gold-medal female quartet Havoc was superb.

British champion chorus Great Western Chorus from Bristol proved to be in fine voice and their singing of Shenandoah and Moondance was particularly well received.

After the interval The Rivertones sang an upbeat version of Alexander’s Ragtime Band with a link into the humorous Can You Tame Wild Women?

This was followed by singing Friends as an emotional tribute to all members past and present. Probably the hit of the night was the effervescent Always Look On The Bright Side of Life which received a great ovation.

Newly-founded all-star male quartet Steel sang Old Cape Cod and Love Me which demonstrated their high pedigree.

Champion female quartet Havoc returned to sing an eight-part arrangement of Misty with the Quarterjacks. They also sang Closest Thing To Crazy, Who Will Buy? and After You’ve Gone which was greatly enjoyed by the capacity audience.

The Great Western Chorus gave a performance of their championship winning sequence before combining with the Rivertones to sing I Can’t Give You Anything But Love and the most popular song of the evening, Amarillo, that brought the audience to their feet.

We are proud to have recorded an improvement in our performance at the Barbershop Annual Convention in May 2008 by exceeding our previous scores.  We achieved a respectable 21st out of 38 entrants.

Congratulations to The Great Western Chorus from Bristol who took GOLD
