Evening of Musical Variety

Temple Methodist Church, Taunton

Saturday, 12 November 2016

This annual concert arranged by the Rotary Club of Taunton and hosted by President Ian Ramus, was held in the Temple Methodist Church with an audience approaching 300 people.

The beneficiaries of the evening were Reminiscence Learning and Compass Disability services.

In addition to the Rivertones, the programme also included the New Horizon Singers’ accompanied by Nick Thomas and three soloists from local schools – Eyra Norman, Ellen Steward and Gregory Steward, all accompanied by Andrew Carter.

The Rivertones and the New Horizon Singers each performed twice during the evening, both groups singing a wide variety of upbeat and ballad material from their repertoires.

The Rivertones concluded their final performance with a rousing version of ‘Hallelujah’ as a tribute to Leonard Cohen who had passed away very recently. This was followed by a hilarious encore of  ‘Amarillo’.

At the end of the evening, host Ian Ramus remarked ‘That’s entertainment!’ as the crowd made their final applause.
